Rimon RIMON is an investigative journalist, content creator and a freelance media and development consultant based in Kiribati.
He is a Fellow of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and a regular contributor to the work of the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA) in the region.
His work is featured in local newspaper – The Kiribati Newstar – as well as the Kiribati Newsroom, an online news blog he created in 2020 to counter misinformation and disinformation. Rimon is also a correspondent for ABC Australia, BenarNews, The Guardian Australia, Radio New Zealand Pacific, Islands Business magazine, among others.
In his earlier career, Rimon worked for more than a decade as Media Adviser for the Government of Kiribati. In that role, he led government communications and media campaigns and in particular Kiribati’s climate change advocacy at the international stage during the Anote Tong administration.
Today, he is working with the Pacific Anti-Corruption Journalists Network (PACJN) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to further promote the Teieniwa Media Toolkit on how Pacific journalists can report more effectively on corruption.
